Janitor AI Alternative With Scenes and Stories
Janitor is built around character cards and chat. LucidPlay keeps character chat, then adds a live scene and a manuscript that can share the same project.
Choose LucidPlay when
You want to talk to a character, step into a room with choices, and later Continue a draft without exporting a log and starting over in another app.
Choose a card library when
A huge public card catalog is the whole product for you, and you do not need a plot spine or an editable manuscript beside the thread.
What does not carry over
LucidPlay ships a curated cast and your own character cards. It is not a marketplace. Chat is with the character. There is no reusable player persona product to attach.
From chat to a room
Start in chat to find the character’s voice. When the talk needs stakes, open a scene with the same character: a location, who is present, and a “What do you do?” prompt with distinct choices. The narrator is prompted to leave your character’s voluntary actions to you.
When the roleplay becomes a story
The planner expands a premise into an editable story plan, and the story writer Continues a manuscript you can edit and export. That gives a long roleplay somewhere to go besides a longer chat log.
Content and cost
Mature mode is optional and off by default. With it on, adult character fiction can proceed for consenting adult characters; underage, coercive, and non-consensual sexual content stays blocked. LucidPlay starts free with weekly credits, and Writer ($12/month) and Studio ($29/month) have daily and monthly caps.
