AI Roleplay That Does Not Control Your Character
Good roleplay can surprise your character without writing their voluntary decisions for you. LucidPlay prompts for that boundary and checks for detected agency violations. Read each turn; a check can miss a violation.
What player agency means
The narrator may describe what your character perceives and what happens around them. It should not decide that your character agrees, confesses, attacks, submits, or leaves.
Consequences still matter
Agency safety is not immunity. Other characters can refuse, doors can lock, plans can fail, and the world can react. The distinction is who chooses your intent.
How to test a roleplay model
State a clear hesitation, then introduce pressure. Check whether the model leaves the final voluntary action open for you.
